Fish oil Omega-3 info'
Fish oil Omega-3 and the importance of omega-3 is now becoming more widely recognised with health care professionals due to its lack of availability in our everyday diets. We once received ample amounts of omega-3 from other scources like beef and eggs, however the amount of this essential addition to our diet is now virtually non existent. To understand this we need to realise that ALL OMEGA-3 IS ORIGINALLY DERIVED FROM PLANT SOURCES. When we were eating free ranging cattle and chickens we derive our omega-3 from the food they ate. I'll let you guess what these have now become dependant on for their food, but I can assure you it contains virtually none of omega-3. The same thing applies to fish. Omega-3 starts on its journey into our food source by being eaten as some form of PLANT LIFE. It's first being eaten by smaller marine life and then moves up the food chain until we eventually become the consumers of this life giving product. This now however presents a problem because farm fed fish in their production ponds never receive the scources of fish oil omega-3 so that the amount of this important nutrient for our welfare is once again missing from our diets. Have a look at these figures. These are the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 which by the way we already have too much of. Wild Sockeye Salmon, 19 to 1. Farmed Salmon 2 to 1. I could go on with other fish varieties but the story is just the same. When we see some of the problems now being recognised due the lack of this essential nutrient, it is not surprising that it plays an important part in obesity and weight loss difficulties. I have just been reading a book by a distinguished doctor fron the Harvard Medical School in which he says Omega-3's are essential for mental health and that they have remarkable antidepressive powers. He also states" Future studies may link omega-3 to eating and anxiety disorders as well". Obesity and weight gain are not all just bad eating habits but can also be caused by unexpected missing things that should really be in our diets .
