We are not getting sufficient omega 3 fatty acids in our diets. We all have the same problem. These fatty acids are essential for our hearts and brain as well as assisting in weight loss. Omega3's are really an assortment of 3 polyunsaturated oils, but the first two, EPA and DHA are the important ones. Most fish oils on the market contain both these ingredients in varying quantities. Argument has arisen about these and which is better than the other. Regarding EPA some dispute exists, this essential nutrient is considered by some leading doctors in the UK as being the single most vital nutrient in the functioning of the brain and nervous system. Most vegetable sources of omega's are ALA and have to be converted by the body to the more needed form of EPA or DHA. Fish oil, provided it is free from contaminants like mercury is the best way to get adequate supplies of EPA and DHA.
