Burning Calories and weight loss.
Burning calories is not an effective means of monitoring your weight loss for several reasons. One of the big failures lies in the fact that the calories in food have nothing to do with their nutritional value. Calories are one thing and nutritional value is another matter. Counting calories bears no relational ship to its food value. You could very rapidly acquire your permitted calorie intake by chewing an a bag of candies or chocolates and I am sure the consequences of that sort of diet would soon prove disastrous. Calories in fruit can also be misleading, all fruit is low in protein and contains mostly water, dietrie fibre( a good thing) but it also contains fructose or fruit sugar which doesn't encourage weight loss. Another suggestion!!! You could in fact reach your daily calorie quota by just drinking your calories in wine. (make mine red) However I don't think this would be a very smart idea as I rather think it would be sadly lacking in nutritional value and I hate to think of the ongoing head aches. oooOO! pass me the pain killers. I once was involved in a very intense course of study wherein I was required to spend 6 hours per day listening to taped lectures. This happened over a fairly long period. As a consequence I consumed bags of candies to help me stay awake as I found some of the subject matter quite boring . As a consequence I developed Hypoglycymia. The consequences of hypoglycemia can produce some horrible affects and it doesn't improve your weight loss prospects either as the sugar surplus gets converted into fat.(Been there done that). Lets have a look at the calorie figures associated with eating a small chocolate bar. If you look at burning calorie tables and exercise, You will find an average person walking for 1 hour at 4 miles per hour(6 km) burns about 250 calories. What it doesn't tell you is, that if you sat around relaxed and did very little you would still be shedding calories off at at about 130 per hour. Net advantage after walking briskly and sweating for 1 hour is only about 120 calories. Not much of an improvement on your burning calories rate for an hours effort is it?. Small chocolate bar equals about 300 calories, very brisk walking equals about 250 calories expended for an hours hard work, therefore it is going to take in excess of an hours brisk walking to get rid of the results of the chocolate bar than if you just sat around did practically nothing. Having done the hard walking I would be surprised if you didn't shower and drink or eat something, for instance a piece of fruit averages 100 calories so what have you achieved?. Exercise is good for you in lots of ways but it doesn't do much for losing weight as excercise unfortunately also makes you hungry. I shall leave you to reach your own conclusions, but the figures sure make interesting reading. What I consider far more interesting is, because calories take no account of nutritional value( sugar is a good example) we can easily provide our calorie requirements and yet provide virtually no nutritian to our bodies. You may think you are satisfied but your body has its specific nutritional requirements and when these are not met, IT SENDS OUT HUNGRY SIGNALS. The result is, you are always ready to eat and often in excess. You find it difficult to say no to those snacks etc. If you want to be able to easily say "Thank you, not for me" and not feel deprived, you need to make sure your body is receiving its nutritional requirements. I can assure you its much easier to lose weight this way than trying to keep a record of burning calories. May I suggest you
