This form of calcium occurs very freely in nature so it is a pity it does not have better value for our bodily needs. . You can buy it by the bag at any hardware store where it is sold as lime. By treating it with some form of acid, it becomes more absorbable, so we now see things like CALCIUM OROTATE which is this same calcium in a modified form treated with orotic acid to increase the amount our bodies can effectively assimilate. We have a fairly large requirement of calcium, particularly so with women beyond menopause to overcome osteoporosis. However consuming large amounts of carbonated calcium in this form is not a recommended solution as this product can build up in unwanted parts of the body and become hazardous.
