Low blood sugar and weight loss
Low blood sugar ( Hypoglycaemia ) can be a trap for the unwary. It can lead to the development of an unacceptable interest for sugar and carbohydrates. Most of us have enough trouble resisting our sugar urges without the encouragement being produced by Hypoglycaemia.

Sugar consumption and carbohydrates are the real underlying causes of excess weight, not the fats as we have been so erroneously been led to believe. There are exceptions to this

Low blood sugar has the potential to create an unbelievable list of health problems as well as causing weight loss problems. However those other health problems are another matter and what we are concerned with here is achieving weight loss. The unbelievable fact is that hypoglycaemia is frequently caused by TOO MUCH SUGAR. No,-- I haven't gone round the bend, crazy as this idea seems. This is what happens. When we consume sugar, this signals a section of our anatomy( the islets of Langerhans) in the pancreas to start producing insulin in order to maintain our blood sugar at an acceptable level which is very necessary for our survival. When we eat sugar our body can go into a sort of panic mode and starts creating insulin like crazy. (Sugar, believe it or not, is not part of our natural diet). By creating insulin we are trying to keep our sugar levels in an acceptable range. By eating sugar in any form, WE CAN SEND OUR BLOOD SUGAR INTO A NEGATIVE RANGE. We now have Hypoglycaemia with all its associated problems. IT IS NOT A SHORTAGE OF SUGAR WHICH IS THE SOURCE OF LOW BLOOD SUGAR BUT IT IS USUALLY THE VERY OPPOSITE. Too much sugar can cause what is technically termed Hypoglycaemia. So how does this effect our attempt at weight loss? One of the effects of Hypoglycaemia can be the feeling of hunger with an urge towards wanting sweet things or carbohydrates both of which are bad news for losing weight. In it's early stages, it is not easily recognised but it can develop into some pretty bad health problems. In some medical circles it has been known as the "Mimicking disease" as it has the potential to produce the most amazing adverse effects on the body and can mimick so many other diseases or health problems which makes it very hard to diagnose or recognise and frequently gets missed. I have had a personal experience with hypoglycaemia and I can tell you I developed so many symptoms that I was prescribed various drugs all of which only suppressed the symptoms. These drugs also produced their own side effects which didn't help either. Luckily I eventually traced the problem to low blood sugar and was able to completely lose the need for the drugs. Today at 88 years of age and with the use of appropriate nutritional supplements the only drug I take is a small dose of thyroxin for hormonal support. Study these pages well and you will find many pieces of information which will help you to also live to a happy and rewarding future.
