A high protein diet which is also a natural weight loss diet recommended for overweight teenagers.

Researchers at Sydney's Westmead Childrens Hospital(Australia)said that a high protein diet could help over weight teenagers from developing type 2 diabetes.

They went on to say "WHILE OVER WEIGHT YOUNGSTERS WERE OFTEN ADVISED TO ADOPT A LOW FAT DIET, THERE WAS GROWING EVIDENCE THAT A HIGH PROTEIN DIET COULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE".

They believed the different dietary approach to control insulin resistance in adolescence could cut the number who went on to develop type 2 diabetes.

At least this is another step in the right direction. I wonder how long it will be before they start putting attention on the major culprit of excess weight.

Once again we have evidence that fat restricted diets are not achieving the results that we have been led to believe. This is another part of the mounting evidence that reducing fat consumption by itself is not going to solve our problems with obesity or being overweight.

Sugar is far too popular a commodity and we don't want to start knocking sugar as a threat to weight loss by putting our attention in that area do we. We wouldn't want to suggest sugar was a major impediment to weight loss now would we?.

The late Dr Atkins who some people still swear by, basically achieved his great results by minimising carbohydrates and hence effectively sugar.
