Omega 3 supplements
Omega 3 supplements could assist in weight loss as well as provide enormous benefits to our overall health. Researchers found that the cell membranes of heart cells store omega-3 from fish oil.

This storage promotes health heart rhythms, promotes healthy triglyceride levels, and raises your good cholesterol. Bailie and his colleagues at the University of Texas working with mice using omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids were able to show whilst feeding mice with the same number of calories, those using Omega 3 had 25% less fat than the mice on omega 6. Working with animals and probably with humans it shows omega 3 fatty acids can reduce fats in specific body areas. It has now been discovered that omega 3s activate the expression of genes controlling fat metabolism. The fact that Omega 3 can affect genes also indicates how these fatty acids can effect our general health. If these omega 3s can assist in weight loss and possibly prevent obesity this could have interesting possibilities for weight loss in the future. We need to be aware of the amount of omega 6 we are now consuming. Whilst the current consumption of the omega 6 has sky rocketed through the use of vegetable oils( most of which are completely devoid of omega 3s) the availability of the critical Omega 3s has severely declined and we are now largely dependant on fish oils to provide omega 3 supplements. There are different views on the recommended level of these supplements but I believe 1 of omega3 to 4 of omega6, is a good compromise. Most research indicates we are normally consuming around 25 of omega 6, to only 1 of omega 3. Lets not argue about the precise amount, the important thing is we are not getting anywhere near enough omega 3. Unfortunately we have another problem arising with our fish oils. They are now becoming largely contaminated with things like mercury which is now also becoming a threat to our health. Be careful when you supplement your self with fish oils to check them for purity, particularly mercury. I currently take a daily supply from a Norwegian multinational which is certified free of contaminants by an independent company. While I do not sell and am not associated with this company you can contact me at this address for information.
