Omega 3 weight loss
Omega 3 weight loss is now starting to attract quite a lot of attention. There is a strong possibility that there is a relationship between omega 3 and weight loss. Professor Leonard Storlien, of the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney, working with 55 patients with diabetes found that insulin sensitivity was greatly improved and much higher on those with a high Omega 3 diet than others on a high carbohydrate diet. Because insulin is a major factor in the production of fat, Professor Storlien went on to say that a higher ratio of omega 3 to that of omega 6 was also the key to REDUCING OBESITY in those he studied. Although Israeli Jews typical diet is lower in both calories and fat than American Jews, the Israeli's suffer more obesity. Israelis consume more omega 6 than anywhere else in the world and the bulk of omega 6 fatty acids have no type 3s in them. People with low omega 3 fatty acids are far more likely to be obese. Professor Bailie of the University of Texas supported the relationship between these type 3 fatty acids and weight loss.

Working with rats it has been shown that omega 3 can activate the genes controlling the fat mechanism. What has been true for rats may also be true for human beings. This observation is supported by a report which showed that Japanese men who migrated to the USA became much more obese than their associates who stayed in Japan. The major difference apparently was the amount of fish containing omega 3s that those who remained in Japan were eating. It has been suggested that if these supplements are associated with losing weight, this would make an important area for future research. If you are interested in trying to lose weight, omega 3 weight loss may be a good area to investigate.
