Weight loss research.
Weight loss research uncovers one of the biggest problems we have to deal with when we embark on any weight loss program We generally have some degree of success until the dreaded weight loss plateau arrives on the scene. When we hit this barrier it can bring with it so much disillusionment. This is by far the biggest source of weight loss failures. If we could find a simple and effective solution to the problem of weight loss plateau there would be far more people succeeding with their weight loss programs.
See Weight loss plateau
Weight loss research has revealed there are several different reasons for this plateau. One of the reasons is that when you are losing body fat you are changing your body’s composition. Your body sees this loss of body fat as a threat and tries to overcome and stabilise itself. It puts itself into a sort of protection mode; this particularly applies if you are involved in an attempted high speed calorie restricted diet. Everyone will plateau at some stage and most people will run into this difficulty on several occasions as they persist in trying to get their body to change its operating procedures and settle down to a healthy diet. There is a major error you can make with this, DON’T RELY ON YOUR SCALES. Use a tape measure! How come? You can be shedding fat and your body’s condition can in fact be improving because you are now putting on muscle, however you may not appear to be succeeding with weight loss as shown on your scales. The key to this is, MUSCLE WEIGHS MUCH MORE THAN FAT !!! This can mislead you because the scales can indicate no weight loss, but your body can be in fact be changing its shape, hopefully in the right places. I suggest you measure your body in a NUMBER OF DIFFERENT PLACES and make a record of them on a regular basis.
Your weight doesn’t always come off in the area you would like it removed from, but if you recognise you are having some success this will encourage you to persist. Persistence is one of the most valuable abilities you can have if you really want to lose that surplus weight. If you press on you will succeed. I don’t need to tell you what will happen if you don’t. If you would like more information on this subject
