weight loss tips for successfully shedding weight
As I am interested in weight loss tips I noticed an article which appeared in "THE NEW YORK TIMES" which suggested the old furphy of counting calories was on the way up again. I can't emphasise this enough, counting calories can be so misleading. A carbohydrate calorie is not the same as a fat calorie and a fat calorie is not the same as a protein calorie. They are just not comparable. Your body is the thing that matters and it it deals with these calories all differently. They are all macronutrients, however they all produce different body responses. I am sure you are already aware that carbohydrates are the major factor in determining your bodies insulin response. If you are interested in weight loss, you should know Insulin is a complex hormone with some very powerful effects. It's your bodies central metabolic control. When you eat a biscuit, a piece of cake or a slice of bread, insulin gets into the act and tells your body to stop using fat as its energy source. It does this by converting those carbs into sugar and your body now starts operating off the new supply of sugar. SOME OF THIS SUGAR gets used up as energy, but what happens to the remainder? IT GETS CONVERTED INTO FAT AND STORED FOR FUTURE USE. Any sugar that your body cannot use immediately just makes you fatter!.Did you wonder why you cant lose weight? Watch out for carbohydrates and sugary things like cokes!!! Calories that come from protein are handled in an entirely different way, so when you eat plenty of protein your telling your body to relax. It doesn't need to worry, it doesn't need to create fat as insurance for future use, every thing is going to be fine. Not only that, but if you keep up a generous supply of protein your body will start using up surplus fats. A recent study on macronutrients and diet concluded that >. "LOW carbohydrate diets result in more weight loss than low fat/low -calorie diets". The important message is. All calories are not the same, Don't get trapped into believing they are.
